Choosing a new Double Door Stainless Steel Commercial Fridge?

With so much choice on the market, we get the low down on the two most popular budget models available on the market today: Polar G594 Commercial Fridge and King KR12 Double Door Fridge

The Polar G594 is a gastronorm double door stainless steel refrigerator. But is it an good?

Having sold commercial fridges for over 25 years, and visited almost every refrigerator factory on the planet, I have a good understanding of these products.

The Polar G594 is made in China.

Polar Double Door Fridge

The product is 1200 litres in capacity and takes gn2/1 shelves. It is also available under the brand name Apollo ADR1200 but is the exact same product. Generally a good product, but there are some short comings.

1) it is made of 403 stainless steel in the outside. 403 stainless is a low grade stainless with high nickel content which can lead to rusting after a few years.
2) it has a single small compressor. Too much pressure from high temp environments can lead to burn out easily. A costly repair in the long run.

3) the inside is made from aluminium. That’s a big rust problem in the long term.
4) The static refrigeration system means that the walls of this fridge get cold and a fan blows the air around. You will get ice build up on the walls of the fridge and this will require regular manual defrosting. Ie. turning the fridge off for 24 hours.

King refrigeration also import the model KR12 a good alternative.King Double door Fridge
Made with 304 stainless steel on the inside and outside, rust will never be a problem.

Two large sized compressors give you double the lifetime expectancy of the refrigerator.
It does however have the same static refrigeration system as the Polar G594

Both models are approximately the same price. The King model should last longer though due to the double compressor system

Commercial pizza counters reviewed. Polar G603, Polar G623 and alternative options

A Pizza Counter is the most organized way to prepare a pizza. This is the tool that the inventors of the pizza centuries ago would have dreamed of. A perfectly made pizza requires perfectly preserved ingredients and a nice place to put them all together.

There are several models available on the market, and today we will review the most economical ones.

First is the compact 2 door pizza counter:

Polar G603, King KPS900 and Tefcold PT920.
20120328-110918.jpg20120328-110927.jpg20120328-110901.jpg

These products are identical in size: 900 mm wide, 700mm deep.
They all feature the same granite work surface, and all hold 5 x 1/6 gastronorm containers. All use the same R134 compressor, digital temperature controllers.
The Buffalo model uses 430 stainless steel (low grade-prone to rust), whilst the King and Tefcold models use 304 stainless steel (high grade).

In fact, although the Tefcold PT920 is imported from Denmark, the product is made in the same China factory as the Polar G603! There is a wonder why the Tefcold model is priced almost £300 more. Too many intermediaries in the supply chain account for this.

After researching, the King KPS900 is found to be the cheapest option online, and then the Buffalo model. We would not recommend the Tefcold PT920 since you are only paying a higher price not for quality differences but due to wholesaler and importer profit, before reselling on to the consumer.

3 door Pizza Counters

Again, several brands to choose from, but different size and temperature options:

First the King KPS1365.

King KPS1365

Sized at 1365w x 700d.

Compact enough to fit in the smallest of establishments and grand enough on style to suit an elite pizza place. Powered by an advanced static-cooling system and electronic thermostat, it has enough space to hold 7 separate GN1/6 compartments for toppings/ingredients. This ensures that your pizzas are always optimally-cooled and fresh (containers are not included).

The storage unit comes with shelves that are spacious and is well divided into 3 self-closing doors for easy access to the extra ingredients.

Next up is the slightly larger King KP14 and Polar G623.

These are compact 3 door counters made from stainless steel with a granite working surface. The advantage is the ingredients section is separate but sits atop the unit. Both models are identical is size, temperature controllers, and compressors.

However, the Polar does use the cheaper 430 stainless steel as opposed to the more expensive 304 stainless used by the King KPS1365. Online research shows the King model is lower priced, but for a more durable product. The temperature range on the counter is 0 to 8 degrees, so just note you cannot store fresh meat inside.

Finally, the biggest of the bunch. King LPP8 and Tefcold PT1300. These are the ultimate in refrigerated pizza counters.

Tecold PT1300King LPP8

Made of tough, everlasting and smart 304 stainless steel this machine gives an a-grade impression and cleans easy. A marble/granite top will help you slide out perfect pizzas with ease, like an assembly line. A perfect combination of form and function. Looks so good and makes pizzas so great, even the Italians would agree. This machine is guaranteed to churn out pizzas with a lot of ‘pizzaz’!

Both counters are just over 2 metres wide. Have compressors on the side to give better cooling performance. Temperature reaches minus 2 degrees, which is ideal for fresh meat storage. You have a large marble top to create perfect pizzas. The units come without shelves for customers to hold large Euronorm pizza trays 600 x 400mm. Ideal for pizza dough to be at arms length.
The separate refrigerated ingredients topping area is large enough to hold upwards of 10 toppings.

We found the King LPP8 is around £400 cheaper compared to the Tefcold PT1300. Although we couldnt find any difference between the two units. The Tecold unit although imported from Denmark, is made in China.

Whichever model you choose, you are sure to find a perfect fit for your establishment and needs. It works just as perfect for salad counters as it does for pizza. Idea l for big and small pizza/salad shops alike, pizza counters, mobile pizza vans, carnivals, restaurants and hotels. In fact it is ideal for anyone and anyplace that loves pizzas. And who doesn’t?

Enjoy!
